I think I just answered this question, but I’ll answer it again just for the 2 points.
You don’t need to be Wiccan to perform spells, I just think that it helps. If you wanted to, just make sure that you do the magic with pure intentions. Wiccans never use harmful magic. If you did want to become Wiccan though, you could try either contacting a coven in your area, or I read this book: http://www.amazon.com/Wicca-Solitary-Pra… and it was really good.
Good luck, and Blessed be )O(

You don’t really have to do anything to *become* Wiccan, I guess if you just study about it and become actually interested in it not just for the spells then you can ‘crown’ yourself Wiccan. A good Wiccan book to read is The Wicca Handbook, by Eileen Holland.

Well since you aren’t an Atheist by any sense of the word, by all means…please become a wiccan. If you were a REAL Atheist, you’d already know that spells, incantations, prayers and warlocks are all imaginary inventions by the superstitious.

Wicca is a theistic religion, so if you became wiccan you wouldn’t be an atheist. You could still try it though.

Wicca is a religion. We follow it because we find it a useful path to better understanding the gods and the world. As an atheist, that’s really not what you are looking for.
However, witchcraft is not a religion and requires no religion. It is a magical practice, a craft and an art, and as such can be studied and practiced by anyone, regardless of religion.

No.
Wicca is a modern religion. Spells are not the focus nor required.
Witchcraft and various forms of magic have been around way way wayyy longer. Witches (people who used various forms of nature magic) never had a single religion. They worshipped their indigenous Gods.
There are no religious requirements in magic, and Wiccans don’t own magic.
Spells require a great deal of mental discipline and study… following instructions like a script doesn’t cut it. If you want to learn Witchcraft of any kind, it doesn’t start with spells.
